The Monday Women (Liverpool) Christmas Party
The Monday Women Christmas Party on 6 December 2010 lived up to expectations! Meeting early evening as usual in the Liverpool Everyman Bistro’s Third Room, old and new friends shared an inexpensive meal, ideas and news. Monday Women is open to all women, with no cost to ‘join’, and no obligation.
A glass of wine and an excellent spread (well done and thank you Everyman Bistro, as ever) were the order of the day. And thank you too, Chumki, for arranging it.
No matter that some of us came solo, and others in a group, the conversation flowed and everyone was happy to share a couple of hours together in the busy run-up to the festive season.
January and Bank Holiday Mondays apart, Monday Women meet on the first Monday of every month at about 6 pm, in the Everyman Bistro Third Room, 5 – 9 Hope Street, Liverpool L1 9BH.
Over the years these informal events, always also announced on the Monday Women e-group (which was set up by the informal convernors), have resulted in many new friendships and a lot of interesting conversation and discussion; but this December evening the emphasis was simply on having an enjoyable hour or two in the company of others of like mind.
Perhaps next December will see us in another venue – the Everyman has ambitious plans to refurbish quite soon – but the friendships and sharing of interests, news and views will continue, somehow.
Surely this is a way for women wherever they find themselves to get together and enjoy some good company? Why only in Liverpool?
We would be delighted if women in other towns and cities also became Monday (or Tuesday… etc?) Women.
How can a model which demands no money and no commitment apart from good will fail to work, if there is someone simply willing to give it a go?
And, of course, if you are in Liverpool and you’d like to come to an informal Monday Women event, the door is open… just turn up on the first Monday of the month, around 6 pm, in the Third Room of the Everyman Bistro on Hope Street, get yourself a coffee, glass of something nice, or a nibble from the servery or bar, and join everyone else sitting the group. You will be very welcome.
